PilotDNA — let your ATPL preparation open doors

Months of study show how you really work — something no assessment day can. PilotDNA turns that into a Readiness Dashboard for you and, if you choose, an introduction to a partner airline.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Opt in

18+ and preparing for your ATPL exams? Join PilotDNA in a few clicks. Participation is entirely optional.

  2. Step 2

    Study as usual

PilotDNA looks at consistent, genuine preparation over months. There is nothing extra to do.

  3. Step 3

    Choose an airline

Once you qualify, pick one partner airline and decide what it may see.

  4. Step 4

    Get invited

An interested airline invites you into its own selection process. No invitation within 30 days? You can choose another airline.

Why join PilotDNA

Your Readiness Dashboard

See how your preparation is really going: where you are strong, which subjects need more attention and whether you are on track for the real exam. Feedback is qualitative — strengths and areas to develop, not scores or rankings. The dashboard is yours whether or not you ever share anything with an airline.

A door to partner airlines

When your preparation stands out over the long term, PilotDNA can introduce you to a partner airline of your choice — for its cadet, first officer or type-rating programmes, depending on where you are in your training. The airline gets a picture built from months of genuine work, not a single assessment day. You choose the airline, and nothing is shared without your explicit consent.

What we analyse

With your consent: how you study on the platform over time — question bank and study books — plus an ICAO English assessment and a session with an aviation psychologist for candidates moving toward an introduction. Yes, this is profiling, and we say so openly; it may lead to an invitation.

What you see

Qualitative signals — strengths and development areas. No scores, no rankings, no percentiles. We don't publish selection criteria: the moment we did, studying would turn into performing, and months of genuine behaviour would lose their value — for you and for the airlines.

What airlines see

Nothing, until you choose one and consent to share with it. Then: a curated summary of your strengths — never your raw study data. A fuller profile goes only to an airline that has invited you, with your fresh consent at that moment.

What we never do

Share without your per-airline consent. Make the platform conditional on joining. Keep an airline's access after you withdraw — withdrawal cuts access immediately. Let an algorithm decide alone — a human reviews every qualification and every introduction.

Three things PilotDNA is not.

  • Not a job guarantee

An introduction gets you into an airline's own selection process. The interview, the assessment, the decision — those are still yours to win.

  • Not a shortcut

There's no technique, no pattern to hit, no way to study “for the algorithm.” The only strategy that works is the one that also passes your exams: consistent, genuine preparation.

  • Not a cost

No fees for students, ever — and if an airline hires you, you owe Aviationexam nothing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get selected?
By preparing well, consistently, over time. We deliberately don't publish the criteria — so there's nothing to game, and your natural preparation is exactly what counts. A human reviews every qualification.
What does it cost?
Nothing. PilotDNA is free for students, and stays free — including if you get hired. You owe us nothing, ever.
Can airlines see my data without me knowing?
No. No airline sees anything about you until you choose that airline and consent to share with it specifically. And they see a curated summary — never your raw study data.
What if I don't want to share with airlines at all?
Then don't — the Readiness Dashboard is still yours. Sharing is a separate choice you make per airline, or never.
Can I withdraw?
Anytime. Withdrawal makes your profile immediately unavailable to airlines. Your use of Aviationexam is completely unaffected.
Can I apply to more airlines at once?
One at a time — that's what makes your application mean something to the airline. If an airline doesn't respond within the decision window, you're automatically free to choose another.
Who can join?
Students 18 or older on the ATPL track. (PPL and CPL-only students: not yet.)
What about my data rights?
Full GDPR rights — access, export, erasure. Separate consents for participation, profiling and sharing, and every automated recommendation is reviewed by a human. Details in the PilotDNA terms and privacy policy.
